"Perhaps the single item of diving hardware that
has changed my entire
approach to the way I tackle serious deep wreck dives". Leigh
Bishp 2003 Britannic expedition
| Without
doubt perhaps the most sophisticated innovation in recent
times is that of the new VR3 dive computer. Designed and manufactured
by the UK based marine engineering & development company
Delta P Technology Ltd, the VR3 has become the most talked
about diving computer in the industry. As the company slogan
dictates this is infact the only dive computer your ever likely
to need. VR3 reaches the market at mainstream sport diving
level then with respected upgrades the activation of facilities
such as nitrox, trimix, CCR, trimix CCR and now semi closed
allow the owner to progress through various levels of training
with a single computer. The NEW VR3 mixed gas computer available
now offers the same functionality as the older VR3, but at
a lower price and with additional Improved features. The technology
even allows games to played while waiting at deco stops! The
core function of the VR3 remains as a multi gas, re-programable
dive computer for use with open and closed circuit diving.
At first the array of multi functions becomes impressive in
itself and combined with thousands of algorithm combinations
meaning no more laptops the unit is has its clear advantages.
Interestingly enough VR3 has rapidly become the choice
of many leading divers worldwide including the likes of
international cave-diving front-man Rick Stanton not to
mention the entire 'Starfish Enterprise' team. VR3 has been
field tested by Leigh
Bishop throughout 2002-04 on deep wreck dives such as
that of the recent RMS Transylvania explorations at 445ft/135m
depth in the North Atlantic and the Britannic at 120m depth
to maximum bottom times of 43 minutes.
"Even without the CCR link the unit
performed without fault, deep CCR flushes were programmed
into the software and combined with 'padding the profile
out at depth' greatly reduced decompression visually and
on the fly" " This truly is the best piece of
equipment we have brought in years!"
With more and more seriously deep and longer dives year
after year the VR3 looks to be a familiar asset on the arms
of many explorers. |

VR3 DIVE
COMPUTER UP FOR BUSINESS 'OSCAR'
Report as first appeared on DIVERNET
Jan 2003
The VR3 dive computer has been short listed for New Product
of the Year in the prestigious Confederation of British
Industry awards. The computer is the first to be able to
give both mixed gas and Inspiration closed circuit rebreather
divers 'live' decompression profiles while on a dive, as
well as the capability of acting as an additional oxygen
(ppO2) monitoring device for the rebreather. These innovations
have made it hugely popular with technical divers. The VR3
is one of only 3 products short listed in the New Product
of the Year category of the Confederation of British Industry
Growing Business awards, and is believed to be the first
diving product ever to be honored in this way."We're
chuffed," commented Kevin Gurr, who designed the VR3
"especially as it was our bank who nominated us for
the award! The VR3 has come a very long way in a short period
of time, which is why they put us forward." 17 December
