The classic image of HMS Audacious sinking in 1914, this photograph was taken from the passing RMS Olympic that came to the rescue Read more and her lifeboats can be seen in action taking crew to HMS Liverpool & Fury. Both the huge guns that can be seen in this image are clear on the seabed today see guns The Admiralty was truly embarked over the loss of one of the finest battleships in the fleet and so early into the great war as well, to the point where they went out of there way to cover up her loss. Images such as this as well as the passengers that witnessed the event aboard Olympic were kept quiet. Read the history pages for more information have spent a great deal of time repairing this image in PhotoShop from its original poor quality format.
