| Image Information HMS Fury pulls alongside the Sinking dreadnought battleship HMS Audacious in an attempt to secure yet another tow line in order to bring Audacious into the safety of nearby Lough Swilly. The battle to save Audacious after she struck a mine continued throughout the course of the day of 27th Oct 1914. Read more Built in 1913 by Cammell Laird & Co Ltd Audacious was some 23,000 gross ton's and was fitted with 10x13.5 inch guns see guns today 16x 4inch guns & 4x3pdr. Interestingly enough none of her crew lost their lives infact the only casualty of the entire affair was an officer abroad the near HMS Liverpool whom was struck by debris after one of Audacious magazines exploded. |
