Image Information

HMS Charybdis Dido Class Anti Aircraft light cruiser Displacement 5700-tons Speed 33 knots
Armament 8x4.5inch Guns in four mountings as well as numerous light AA weapons. Built by
Cammell Laird Birkenhead Liverpool England July 1940 commissioned Nov 1941.
The wreck was discovered in 1993 by Frenchman Alain Launay in 280ft depth off the Sept
Isles Brittany Northern France. The wreck was first photographed by Leigh Bishop during the
successful 2001 mix gas expedition led by London based Keith Morris.
