SS Transylvania
All images © Leigh Bishop 2002
35mm film images of the WW2 passenger Liner Transylvania sunk off in the north Atlantic in a depth of 440ft. The wreck remains upright on the seabed and almost completely intact. The Transylvania was torpedoed by the German submarine U-56 and taken into tow but sank before reaching the coastline.

These images taken by Leigh Bishop using Nikon 35mm SLR whilst diving the wreck.

Above; A porthole remains open directly in front of the main bridge section of the wreck.

Above; Two of the six main bridge telegraphs that remain bolted to the bridge deck.
This wreck was untouched when we visited the site during Sept 2002.

Above; Again another of the bridge telegraphs with its head fallen from the main stand, this
particular image was taken from the port wing.

Above; Transylvania's rather unusual bridge telemotor. Note the lamp
and stand to the background left.

Above; A diver from the expedition examines a 4" gun on the bow deck
that remains fixed to the upright deck still to this day.

Above; Again a diver from the expedition puts scale to one of the
twin central bridge telegraphs.
