Click here to see the full story of the ship and the expedition. Without doubt approx 7700 people died on
this wreck and recent examinations estimate possibly over 10.000! Almost double that of the Titanic
Lusitania and modern tradgedys such as the Estonia and even the twin towers all put together. Wilhelm
Gustoff was torpedoed by a Soviet Submarine towards the end of WW2 as the Eastern front broke down.



With limited diving taking place during the expedition the divers concentrated around the very stern
section of the wreck these few pictures here show the very counter stern fully intact with
teak decking and safety rails still in situe.


This final image below was taken by my good freind American diver Bradley Sheard and clearly
shows Davits and working mechanisums which is located to port.
